Excavations of Pompeii

Famous all over the world, the excavations of Pompeii and those of Herculaneum are the only archaeological sites in the world able to give back to the visitor a Roman settlement, whose life remained steady on a distant morning of 79 AD.
Tons of ashes, pumice, and lapilli of the volcano Vesuvius covered Pompeii under a layer of over 6 meters while preserving it from most of the offenses of the time.

Estimated time to reach the Pompeii excavations by car: about thirty minutes.
